Miserable... the rainbow-haired Trainer thought to herself as she trudged through the wetness, trying to avoid the mud pits as much as possible. She had come to this place because of its rain, searching for a spot where the light hit it just right so that it formed... a rainbow. No such luck. There was plenty of rain all right, but it was too cloudy for any rainbows to form.
She sighed to herself and looked up at the skies again, only with a glimmer of hope. "Oh, well. Maybe after the clouds start to clear up..." If they ever do.
As much as the young woman chased rainbows, she also chased a rainbow of Pokémon. She dreamed to have her very own ROY G BIV of beauties lined up in a row to be her partners in everything. The first in her collection, a Flareon named Fiyero, was curled up in her arms. The Fire-type was quite unhappy to be in all the rain.
"I know, Fiye. But it's worth it for the rainbow, right?" the Trainer said with a half-smile, trying to cheer him up.
The Flareon blinked at her and then looked up at the endless dark gray clouds in silence.

In Marley's eyes, anything that was beautiful was claimed by his eyes only. Marley had an aesthetic view of beauty and would rather shower himself with beautiful things, then ugly ones. Ugly to him was anything that wasn't up to his standards of appearance, the Lily Point Marsh was one of them. It was dirty, disgusting and had a very unpleasant smell. The only reason he came to this place was to see the beautiful rainbow that the was up in the sky; this was the only place where he could see it at its best.
Falling into the marsh would be the end of him. Nothing irked him more then getting dirty and smelling like dirty grass. His clothes were always neatly pressed and lint free, color coordinated and clean. If the shirt had a stain on it, it was garbage to him. He has a very high standard of appearance, which is also called vanity or narcissism. Marley didn't associate with ugly people, especially the oddly dressed ones.
From a distance, what he thought was an ugly Pokemon, was actually a youngish looking girl with multi-colored hair. What a disgusting hair color, he thought. Who in their right mind would want to have their hair colored like a rainbow? I mean they were very pretty to look up at in the sky, but not on someones head. What Marley really wanted to know was why the girl was here. This part of the marsh rarely had trainers in it, it was a secret spot only few knew about. If she was here to view the rainbow in the sky, Marley wouldn't be happy to share it with an odd ball like her.
"Excuse me miss, are you lost?" he said politely.

When the eerie silence save for the falling raindrops was broken, the Trainer turned toward the source of the voice. "Uh, no. Thank you, though," she replied with a small smile. "We're actually waiting for a rainbow to appear. I figured there'd be one with all this rain, but no luck just yet."
Perhaps he would know if there were ever any rainbows in the marsh. "Are you from around here by any chance? I'd hate to waste my time waiting if there isn't going to be one."

Wasting time!? What was this girl on, crack? Something as beautiful as a rainbow was worth waiting for. By all means, if the girl didn't feel like waiting for the rainbow to come, she didn't have to. Hell if he cared. Honestly, did she expect him to answer to someone like her? No. No he wouldn't. "If you want me to tell you where it is, you are going to have to battle me." Such a little bastard he was. The gentlemanly thing to do would be to tell her where it was, and even escort her himself to it. But Marley didn't waste his time with ugly ducklings like her.
Where they were standing, all it was a narrow plank of wood. For someone who wasn't coordinated enough, they would easily fall into the marsh and get themselves stuck. A Pokemon battle on this terrain? You had to be crazy!

"There's one around here already?" she asked, half-excited, half-curious. She looked up at the sky and saw nothing, but there were many trees around and it was possible if it was farther away, it may have to be seen from a different area. "Hm."
She took out a Poké Ball encased in a capsule with stickers on it and held it up proudly. "All right. I accept your challenge. My name is Iliana Iris Avari, the Rainbow Pokémon Trainer. And you, my friend, are about to get a taste of the Rainbow. Go, Indy!"
The young woman threw the ball into the air, which immediately released a beam of brilliantly bright light surrounded by lightning bolts"
"Jol!" the Electric-type posed in a battle stance, ready to fight.

Now it begins. "Jolteon huh?" he said, surveying the electric Pokemon. Besides the possibility of him taking her to his secret spot, this battle was more then it seemed. This battle was for Marley himself, to prove to everyone that beauty can triumph over ugliness. Marley took out a Pokeball and threw it out. On the Pokeball was a sticker, a Pokemon seal. "Skunkly, curtain!" The ball opened and released a ton of smoke. A pair of yellow beatie eyes pierced through the shroud of smoke, to intimidate its foe. It whipped its body to the left and brushed the smokescreen away. Standing infront of Marley was his Skunktank, Skunkly.
"" it cried arrogantly. The purple skunk glared at its opponent, thinking of a million possible ways to hurt it. Skunkly was a very naughty Pokemon and always got into trouble. Just ask the Jigglypuff he tore apart last week.

As much as the Skunk-thing stared at her, Indy stared right back. But a staring contest would get them no where. Was that smell-bucket seriously trying to intimidate her? Leave that to the Gyarados and Staraptor, please. Because it ain't working for you.
"Okay, Indy! Start this off with Magnet Rise!"
The Lightning Pokémon began to sparkle beautifully with, well, sparks, as electricity and magnetism worked together to make the Jolteon rise from the ground. This would have many benefits in battle, as well as look lovely.

Aw, how cute, the Jolteon rose up from the ground like a Magnemite. What a stupid trick, he thought. It was a pretty rare move, but totally useless. "Is that all you got?" he spoke, arrogantly. "Skunkly use smokescreen!" Smokescreen was probably a predictable move for a Skunktank, but what exactly did he have planned?
Skunkly emitted a smokescreen attack from it's mouth. It covered the battlefield in a thick blanket of smoke. The foe's Jolteon would have a very hard time attacking Skunkly in a field like this. "Now use poison gas!" Again, Skunkly let out another attack. it jumped into the air and did a flip, releasing a poison gas attack from its body.
The smokescreen started to change its hue from black to purple, shifting back and fourth between the two. Because poison gas had such a limited area of attack, Marley used smokescreen to expand it and present a truly beautiful attack that changed its natural color. "That is how we do it rainbow girl." If the opponent stayed too long in the smokescreen - poison gas combo, it would be poisoned without a doubt. What was she going to do next to counter this move?

"Hmph," she retorted, covering her mouth and nose. He clearly did not understand the possibilities. That would soon change. "We've got a secret or two you don't know about." The white-clad girl raised her hand and ordered, "Indy! Secret Power!"
At first the Lightning Pokémon could not be seen deep within the cloud of damaging black and purple smoke. Within moments, however, beautiful shimmers of blue could be seen within the cloud as if it were a galaxy in the universe, dotted with stars. Indy was using the effects of the gas to her advantage as far as visual tactics were concerned. As the glimmers grew brighter and more numerous, it became clearer what they were: Tiny water bubbles. In a watery area such as this, Secret Power took the form of Water Pulse.
Soon, the bubbles were so many that they formed a wave of solid water that swirled from the center of the dark cloud, making a vortex of water and smoke.
"Now, Thunder Wave and do it!"
In one smooth movement, the Jolteon released electricity from its hovering form that flowed into the torrent which she then hurled at her opponent.

Marley smirked at the vortex of water heading his way, "Is that the best you can do?" He had to admit, using his attack to her advantage like that was pretty good, he could do better though. The attack itself was all over the place and didn't look as beautiful as it could of been. I mean come on, anyone who thinks an electrifying whirlpool is pretty, needs glasses.
"Skunkly, use shadow claw on the tail of the vortex." Skunkly quickly dashed towards the vortex and unleashed it's claws. When his claws were released, it dove straight towards the tail of the vortex and it's right claw was emitting a shadowy aura. The shadow claw attack hit the vortex at the tail and it quickly dispersed into blue and yellow sparkles. Skunkly's coat shined with the sparkles hitting it.

Bells as pure as snow rang in Rainbow's ears as the sparkles flew through the air, settling on the Pokémon's coat. It smelled and tasted like fresh blueberries. "What do you think this is, a Pokémon Contest?" she inquired indignantly. Though she had to admit it was a pleasure, it was nothing compared to the glory of the rainbow awaiting after she won this. "Indira, time to do your thing! Thunder!"
"Joooolll!!!"
As the Electric-type let out its powerful howl of a battle cry, the gray clouds overhead started coming together in one ominous dark whirl. White and yellow flashes of light could be seen flashing within as something incredible charged inside the water vapor. It was enough to freeze you in place with both fear and awe.
On top of the natural crackle of thunder that could be heard within the cloud, Rainbow heard a melody of low tones, similar to a subtly frightening tune one would hear around Halloween. It tasted like black licorice and smelled of leather. "Go!"
"Teeeeoooon!"
In an instant, a massive thunderbolt burst from the depths of that mass of dark, looming mist, headed straight for Skunkly. It was a sight to behold, incredible through both pure force and sheer natural beauty. The power of lightning, controlled and yet completely unleashed. Rainbow was assaulted with the sound of many keys being pounded on an organ at once while she was surrounded by the scent of metal and the taste of lemon.
Perhaps on purpose, or perhaps not, the angle at which the bolt struck was just so, that the hovering form of a menacing and growling Indira was cast in a combination of bright light on one side and sinister shadow on the other. Certainly an appearance to send a chill down one's spine.

"Quickly doge the thunder attack Sknunkly!" Such an underhanded trick. Before he knew it, the opponent was attack with a very powerful attack, thunder. Skunkly did a back flip and tried to dodge the attack, but it was inevitable. He was hit with the powerful thunder attack and sent flying into the marsh. The more he moved inside the marsh, the quicker he began to sink. "Skunkly, calm down!" he said, trying to calm his Pokemon down before it sank to the bottom of the marsh.
All Skunkly could think about was sinking deeper into the marsh. As much as it was squirming around, it wasn't helping itself at all. Marley had to think of something before it was too late. What a stupid predicament, he thought.

"Now's your chance! Trap it with Thunder Wave!" That would render Skunkly paralyzed. Since squirming around in the muck wasn't doing it to well, it may as well be.
Indy's hovering body which was already dazzling with electricity began to beautifully glow bright with more sparks before they were violently unleashed at the stuck opponent.
For Rainbow, the sight brought about a cacophany of high-pitched notes, the scent of pickles, and the taste of sour candy. Brilliant.

Even though it was sent flying into the marsh with that powerful Thunder attack, Skunkly still had some fight left in him. The Thunder Wave attack was closing in on the purple skunk, and just like that! Marley knew what he had to do. "Skunkly, hurry and use Flamethrower downwards, full power!" Skunkly unleashed a very powerful Flamethrower attack from it's mouth, casting it upwards into the sky. It was spinning counterclockwise with its back feet open - it twirled like a ballerina in mid air.
He had managed to get himself out of the marsh, was heading towards the opponent, and dodged the Thunder Wave attack. Skunkly was now directly above the opponent, waiting for further instructions. "Use slash, push it into the marsh!" It extended its claws and headed towards the opponent.

{Sorry it's not elaborate. I'm too tired...}
What? her eyes widened in disbelief as the Skuntank blasted from the mud like a rocket ship. Her eyes narrowed as she quickly thought through her options while the Pokémon twirled around.
That's it! Rainbow snapped her fingers as enlightenment hit her like one of Indy's Thundershock attacks. "Thunder Wave again!"
Yes, Skunkly had the advantage of being close to his opponent. However, that same advantage was shared by Indy. And he can't dodge in the air.
At the instant Rainbow made the call, Indy repeated her last attack with the same amount of beauty and flash as before. Only this time her aim was dead-on as she was mere feet away from her opponent, who was simultaneously falling ever closer to her.
