"Great, how the heck am I supposed to find one of those pokemon Hospotals in this huge place?"
Nicholas had wandered along Route 207, according to his map,, and had arrived in Oreburgh. He had spent only a day on the road, but had run most of the way with the baby Larvitar, dodging wild pokemon along the way. He had also used up the last of the supplies feeding himself and the baby, the few times it had regained consciousness. Now he found himself in an entirely different sort of wild: the Human kind.
While Nick stared at his surroundings, he also looked for one of those places he had heard could heal a pokemon's wounds, though for the life of him, he couldn't remember what they were called, never having given them much notice before now. He thought about asking one of the residents, but wasn't sure how to approach them.
"E-excuse me?" "Beg pardon, but--" "Hey! Can you help me?"
But he was hesitant to actually ask due to his distrust of strangers. And so, carrying larvitar on his back, he wandered about.

As Rainbow made her way toward Eterna City and in turn, the Eterna Forest, she found herself in a dusty, rocky, yet bustling mining city. Simply the multitude of rocks constantly bombarded her with the scent of brownies and the sound of drums. It was rather annoying. Not to mention the multitude of sounds and smells that assaulted her from the constantly rushing workers and dwellers of this place.
"Could we please get some peace and quiet for a bit. Please?" she asked to no one in particular as she searched for the Pokémon Center. Those were always a convenient place to refresh her mind and body as well as get her Pokémon checked up.
Just then, she smelled lime air freshener and heard the rustling of leaves as her eyes fell upon a young man carrying what appeared to be an injured Pokémon. Only, according to her map, he was heading away from the Pokémon Center.
"Excuse me, Trainer with the hurt Pokémon! The Pokémon Center is that way!" she yelled, pointing down the street. Even from here, the red roof was visible near the end of the city.
Watching for paserby, Rainbow ran up to the stranger. His hair made her smell lilacs. "Come on, I'm heading there too."

Startled, Nick spun around, nearly losing his balance. When he looked up, he saw that it was a young girl who had addressed him. Immediately his gaze went to her hair, which seemed to contain every color known to man. It was...shocking, to say the least. Temporarily caught off guard, Nick seemed to forget how to speak, instead gaping at her outrageous locks.
Once he picked his jaw up off the ground, He noticed two things: One, that she was yelling something about a "Pokemon Center"; and two, that she was running towards him. His automatic reaction was to run, but he lost his balance again as he turned to flee, and his legs tangled each other up. He went down hard.
As he picked himself up, the girl caught up to him and mentioned the Pokemon center again. She pointed to a building with a red roof where several people were coming and going.
"Come on, I'm heading there too."
He realized that this girl was probably trying to help him, but wondered what she had to gain from it. What was her angle? Before he could work it out, the larvitar on his back stirred, reminding him of his purpose. Whatever her motives might be, he had nothing else to go on, and the baby needed care.
"Alright, lets go." He headed in that direction, wary, but without options.

"1000 Poke, huh?" Alistar murmered to himself while looking at the handful of change in his hand, he turned his head to Wurm, who was on his shoulder. Wurm looked starving. "Should have raided the old man's fridge when I had the chance I guess, and his wallet for that."
Alistar stopped in his tracks. He rubbed his growling stomach. "Ugh, what I wouldn't give for a grilled chesse sandwhich right about now." Alistar groaned. There was no going back to his old bed, his old kitchen, his old life. "Heh," Alistar thought," I guess since I'm no longer a Rhodes, I just have to take care of myself, and Wurm."
Suddenly, two werid people whizzed right by Alistar. Some dude with an injuried Lavitar on his back and a girl with rainbow hair.
"The marvels of hair dye these days" Alistar thought. "Looks like there headed back to the Pokemon Center. Maybe Nurse Joy will give me some food or something" Alistar's look of confusion turned into a smirk. "Lets get going Wurm."
"Wurm!" Wurmple said in happiness. Alistar turned and chased after the two. "Maybe if were lucky, we can crash on at the Pokemon Center too!" Alistar said to Wurm, Wurm giving him a strange look. "What? A guy can dream." Alistar grinned.

Certainly a clumsy guy, the girl thought when he fell to the ground. "This way," she told him, starting in a run toward the red roof. That Larvitar looked like it was in bad shape. As the scent of lime air freshener continued to surround her, she wondered what could have happened to it.
Within a few minutes, they had reached the end of the road and the Pokémon Center. Even Rainbow, who was physically fit, panted a bit as they barged into the building.
"Nurse Joy!" she exclaimed, heading for the front desk, "There's a badly injured Larvitar that needs your help!" With a thud, she intentionally collided with the counter as her dash came to a sudden halt.
"Oh?" the Nurse replied in a surprised tone. "Chansey, bring the gurney STAT," Joy said to a large pink Pokémon as she made her way around the counter to take the Larvitar from the male Trainer.
As the Chansey came into view, Rainbow tasted cotton candy and heard the sound of a brush going through hair. Not unpleasant. She smiled slightly at the sweetness.

Before Nick could react, the large pink pokemon snatched the larvitar off of his shoulders and gently placed it on the gurney it had brought out.
As it wheeled the cart through the swinging double doors, Nick looked on with clear worry. "Is it going to be okay, ma'am?"
The orange-haired woman turned to him. "We'll do our best. Can you tell us what happened?" A stern look crossed her face, as though she believed March himself had given the pokemon its wounds. March quickly recounted the events of the past day, explaining what had happend on Mt. Coronet, and how he had carried the wild Pokemon to Oreburgh.
The woman seemed to relax a bit. "Well, thank you for your help. I'm sure when Larvitar comes out, it will want to thank you too." She smiled and turned away, following the chansey. nick let out a sigh of relief; new people always made him nervous.
With that thought in mind, he turned to the strange-looking girl who had helped him. "So..uhm...I guess I should...thank you, Miss...umm?"

Alistar followed quickly after the two werid kids running into the Pokemon Center. "Man, these guys are fast," Alistar thought. "How you holding up Wurm?" Alistar called to his companion. Wurm was no longer on his shoulder. Due to the speed at which Alistar was running, Wurm had fallen off and had fallen into Alistar's bag since he had left it open since Alistar had left home.
"Wurmple Wurm!" Wurm cried. "Hold on little buddy!" Alistar yelled. Alistar made a sharp turn into the Pokemon Center. "Hey!" Alistar cried. Alistar stopped at the door. "Ok," He said with a breath,"hear goes everything." He walked into the Pokemon Center, quickly noticing the the commotion at the counter.
"Sounds like someones pretty bang-up over there..." Alistar murmered. "Lets go check it out." He walked over and saw as a Chansey was rushing to the treatment center with the injuried Larvitar from before. He noticed the Rainbow haired girl and the dude from before with a look of concern for the Larvitar.
He walked to Nurse Joy. "Um... excuse me miss..." Alistar began. "I was wondering if you still had any housing available."
"I'm terribly sorry sir," Nurse Joy said to him. "But we simply don't have any room left. This is the eighth injuried Pokemon this week, we simply have no room left for anyone else."
"Oh, thats too bad." Alistar said in depression. "I guess I'll go crash in the park..."
"dolphin..." Alistar thought, "I guess I'll have to find another way."

{My only concern is with Alistar's post b/c there are rooms in the Pokémon Center for Trainers to crash. Just like you see Ash and the gang use in the show when they're staying at one. They're kind of like hostels. So... yeah. I'm going to ignore her reply. Xd}
Rainbow listened intently to the young man's story. After learning about the tragedy, she felt terrible for the loss of life, both Pokémon and human. Although not all of them were friendly, people certainly did not deserve a demise such as that.
Her sky blue eyes met with his as he spoke to her. "Call me Rainbow," she replied with a small smile. "Glad I could help you, Mister... uh...?"
A moment later, the Rainbow's attention was shifted to a Trainer who appeared to be her age. There was a Wurmple sticking out of his bag. Suddenly Rainbow smelled burnt sparklers and tasted that liquid ooze green candy that came in those plastic tubes. Interesting.
Said Trainer was speaking with Nurse Joy, requesting for a place to stay. This was not an uncommom request at Pokémon Centers, given their purpose of being both a safe haven for Pokémon and Trainers alike.
Hearing his inquery inspired Rainbow to want to spend the night here too. She wouldn't be able to make it all the way to Eterna, so she might as well enjoy a comfortable lodging while she could.
"Sounds good to me too," she added, half to Nurse Joy who smelled of cinnamon, and half to the teenager, who tasted of fruity lollipops.

{Ahahaha! I love it! You're so random, Rainbow XDDDD Fruity lolipops}
"Oh...March, I'm Nick March" He wasn't sure if he was supposed to shake hands or not, but was saved the trouble of deciding by the appearance of another stranger, who was carrying a bright red worm in his bag, asking the nurse about a place to spend the night. Suddenly, pure fatigue washed over him. He had been running almost nonstop from the mountain, and now the floor was looking like a rather inviting place for a short nap. He swayed on his feet and barely caught himself on the counter.
"Think resting...might not be such a...bad idea," Nick managed. Then everything went black.

"This is just great..." Alistar said in an annoyed tone. " We gotta sleep in the lobby that smells like vaccine and Grimers." Alistar sat on a small couch with his bag and Wurmple to his side. "Come to think of it, whats with all these Pokemon getting creamed at Mt. Coronet, there must be something up there thats decimating the place..." The two trainers from before were still speaking to Nurse Joy. "Hmmm... I guess this couch isn't too bad, it beats sleeping on the curb." Alistar mumbled. Alistar's stomach began to rumble. He had completely forgotten the point of this venture.
"Wurmple.." Wurm moaned. He was hungry too. "Um... maybe we can find some leftovers or something, anythings better than this." Alistar thought to himself. He thought about his idea from before about challenging other trainers for money. Wurm was nowhere near skilled enough to win a battle. I f Alistar could ahold of a strong Pokemon, he would be rolling in Poke.
"Thats it!" Alistar said out loud. "Whatever is beating up all these Pokemon at Mt. Coronet has to be another Pokemon. If I can catch it, I can get a ton of money." Alistar looked at Wurm. It was fragile and sad. He wouldn't stand a chance against the monster. He pet Wurm in an attempt to comfort him. "Maybe I can trap it or something..." Alistar yawned. It was getting dark. "Might as well figure it out in the morning..." He picked up Wurm, layed him to his side, and closed his eyes. "G'night Wurm." He whispered. Wurm layed there quietly. "Wurmple..." Wurm said, he knew he wasn't strong enough to fight the Pokemon. He was beginning to think he failed his master...

While Rainbow watched the one who smelled of fruity lollipops, she saw March sway out of the corner of her eye. She turned to him as he caught himself on the counter.
"Hey! Are you all right?" she asked with concern as the scent that filled her nose changed back to lilac. From what she'd heard, this guy had been through almost as much as that Larvitar.
"Think resting...might not be such a...bad idea."
And with that, the young man collapsed. Being close-by, Rainbow managed to catch him as he fell. They still landed on the ground, but he didn't get hurt.
"Nurse Joy!" the girl exclaimed.
The nurse rushed up to them and inspeceted March with a stethescope and a pulse-check. "He's all right. I think he just fainted. From what he told us, he must be exhausted. Chansey's busy helping Larvitar. Do you think we could manage bringing him to one of the quarters?"
"Uh..." Rainbow looked down at the sleeping Trainer. "Sure. I'll try."
Together, Nurse Joy and Rainbow carried March into one of the rooms with bunk beds that Trainers were encouraged to use while they traveled. Once he was in a bed, Nurse Joy thanked Rainbow for her help.
"I have to go assist Chansey with taking care of Larvitar now. Is there anything else I can do?" she asked politely.
"Could you please check and make sure my Pokémon are all healthy when you get the chance? I think they're all fine, but as long as I'm here..."
"I understand. Of course, I'd be happy to."
"Thank you so much," Rainbow said as she handed over the Poké Balls containing the ROY and future G of her rainbow.
After Nurse Joy left, Rainbow set her things down on the bed opposite of March. She figured she better keep him company in case his condition changed during the night. But for now she took a walk down to the cafeteria and got a cup of chicken noodle soup and an apple.
It was always odd eating food with synesthesia. The shiny red apple tasted both like an apple and honey. It smelled of apple-y sweetness and nutmeg. And while she was eating the fruit, she heard the sound of paper being crumpled. Growing up, it was a lot to take in. But since it was all she had ever known, Rainbow was used to it for the most part.
Once she was done with her light dinner, she decided to go back to the lobby. The sun had just set and she wasn't quite tired enough to go to sleep. She headed toward the sitting area to relax and look out the windows only to find that same Trainer from earlier fast asleep with his Wurmple. Rainbow smiled slightly and placed a thin blanket that was draped on one of the sofas over his body, smelling the fruity lollipops once again.
She sat on one of the couches for a while longer, just gazing outside at the orange-tinted sky until it was completely black. One of her favorite passtimes was simply watching nature of any kind. The limitless amount of colors in the wild and their unique combinations were both inspiring and fulfilling.
With the nighttime stars all out and twinkling brightly, she finally decided to head in. She turned to go back to her quarters when Nurse Joy walked out of the back with Rainbow's Poké Balls on a tray. The colorful Trainer took the three devices back and inquired about the Tyranitar. Apparently it was stable and she would have more news in the morning.
Rainbow returned to her room where March was still sleeping peacefully. She changed into her rainbow print pajamas and tucked herself in with a contented sigh. Nature was wonderful, but still not as comfortable as a soft, warm bed....

The dream feels at once both familiar and alien. There is warmth. Light. There is happiness. He is a free spirit, a veritable force of nature in and of himself, and knows, through the primal memories of his species, that he will only become moreso as time goes on. He will live the life of a combatant. He will grow strong alongside his brothers and sisters. He will prtect his home alongside his mother and father. He will eat the earth around him to gain sustainance, and he will change. He will encase himself in peerless armor, to protect him while he evolves further. And then, he will emerge, ready to take a home and a mate for his own, to continue his line, as it has been for untold generations.
But then, the outsiders come.
Suddenly, there is light, but it is an angry, hateful, consuming light. Along with the light comes heat, and flames. Fire rages all over the mountainside. Strange, armorless creatures appear. Soft creatures with pink flesh and loose fur. They throw things at him and his family, brightly colored orbs, from which appear other creatures, some of which live on this very mountain, most of which he has never seen. They attack without warning. While his parents are battling with these foreign trespassers, more pink soft things arrive, but instead of joining in with the rest of their kind, appear to be fighting the other intruders.
Suddenly, from behind, blinding pain; One of the fleshy things has snuck up on him and stabs at him with a metal stick, the end of which was tipped with a needle which seemed to ooze some kind of liquid. He cries out. His parents whirl in sudden fear and surprise. He sees is a large, metal plated beast attack his father's exposed back, and his mother go into a rage the likes of which he has never seen before, roaring in fear and hatred. He sees several of the intruders escaping with his brothers and sisters. He sees the other two intruders, the ones who seemed to be fighting their kin chase after those who were escaping, shouting. Then another stab. Then all goes dark.
Some time later, he awakes. It is raining. He is alone. He looks around, and sees smoke rising in the direction his parents have warned him never to travel, away from the mountain. However, there is no sign of either of them...Memories of what had happened return to him, bringing with them a sense of fear and foreboding. He recalls the two creatures who had appeared had headed towards where the smoke now rises in thick pillars. He starts to make his way there, but only makes it a small distance before falling again. Now consciousness begins to fade once more. He feels lost, alone. Just as he is about to pass out once more, he suddenly feels strong arms surround him, and feels his body rising.
It's yet another of those odd creatures. This one appears to be younger than those before it. It looks down at him, something in his eyes. Pain? Guilt?
"You and I, we're the same now. Both with families destroyed by hatred, both alone." The creature sounds pensive, almost sad.
"But we can be alone, together..." And once more, everything fades away.
Nick awoke slowly, and sat up. "Jeez, must've passed out," he said aloud to no one in particular. It was dark out now, and he appeared to be alone in one of the rooms in the hospital. Or Pokemon center, he guessed. There was so much he had to learn, or re-learn, about the world, despite his age. Now that he planned on taking care of the pokemon (Larvitar, had they called it?), he'd need to look at his parents notes some more.
Great, now I can be an animal freak just like them, he thought sarcastically. Still, though. the baby needs someone to look after it, and I guess it's what Mom and Dad would have wanted. He sighed and stretched his stiff neck. It was going to be a long road. Of that, he was sure. Then he thought back to what he had dreamed about. It was still fresh in his mind. What a freaky dream. I guess that's what happened to Larvitar before I showed up. But how did I dream up something like that? Troubled, he looked around the room he was in some more. Then he noticed a bag at the end of the only other bed in the room. A bag that looked just like the one that had belonged to...
Just then, the doorknob rattled. Nick quickly lay back down and pretended to be fast asleep. As the door opened he cracked an eye open, just the tinniest bit. At once, his fears were confirmed; it was the rainvbow haired girl from earlier. The bag obviously belonged to her, being bright and colorful. She must have wanted to keep and eye on him, though he hardly knew why. She's up to something, he thought. Maybe she's trying to steal from me? But that didn't track. If that were the case, why wouldn't she just grab his stuff and leave? He had been unconscious obviously (as his stiff, still-tired body reminded him), so she would have had ample opportunity to do so.
Then he realized that the girl was stripping off her clothes and pulling (what else?) rainbow pajamas from her bag. Nick could feel heat spreading across his face, and he shut his eyes tightly, hoping she wouldn't notice. OhmigawdohmigawdohmiGAWD! What is her DEAL!? She's getting changed right THERE! In front of a guy and everything!
Then he realized that, in all likelihood, she probably thought he was still passed out.
This is nuts! A girl is changing right in front of me! This is too much! Uggghh...then again...how many times in my life am I gonna get to...no! She's a kid! And a stranger at that! There's no way I could...but I don't know for sure how old she is. And it's not like I'm doing anything wrong. I'm just trying to appreciate beauty!
But by the time he gathered up the courage to open his eyes again, the girl was already asleep in her bed.
*sigh* Oh well, maybe it's for the best, Nick thought as he turned over and began to let sleep take him once more. Still, he couldn't help but wonder to himself about the dream he had had just before waking up, why it had been so clear, and how he could have even seen into the mind of the Larvitar....now sleep wouldn't come to him. It bothered him, and he was curious to the fate of the baby. Quietly, so as not to disturb his roomie, Nick snuck out of the room. He wandered down the hall, hoping to find the Larvitar, but instead wound up in the lobby. He noticed that the kid with the worm from earlier was sleeping on one of the couches, a thin sheet draped over his form.
"Oh, you're awake. I'm amazed you're up already"
Nick turned and saw the Nurse from earlier behind the desk. A single lamp was lit, and She appeared to be in the middle of a book. She looked up at him.
"We were quite worried when you collapsed. It was dangerous for you to have run all the way here from Mt. Coronet. Still I guess you didn't have much choice, with your injured friend."
Nick had been reluctant to speak to her, but at the mention of the Larvitar, he burst out, "Is he all right? Will he...be okay?"
The nurse smiled. "Thankfully, yes. There weren't too many complications. It appeared Larvitar had simply recieved a large amount of high-grade tranquilizer. We see that alot in pokemon attacked by poachers, especially those that are resistant to electricity attacks or stun rods."
Nick thought about the dream, about the metal pole that had jabbed into the child's back...
The nurse stood up and stretched. "By the way, if you have any other pokemon, we'd be happy to heal them, free of charge."
Nick looked at her, rather surprised. "Oh, I don't...that is, I'm not a...a trainer or anything. I don't actually have any pokemon. I'm...kind of new at this whole thing, actually."
"Oh, so you and that young lady aren't aquainted? I'd assumed you knew each other."
Nick blushed furiously when the rainbow-haired girl wa mentioned. It wasn't exactly every day that women undressed next to him. "Oh, n-no! Not at all. We just met, actually. She showed me where to find this place."
The nurse chuckled. "That explains a lot. I guess you've never been inside a pokemon center either, then? You did seem a bit lost when you first came in. These centers are here for weary travelers and their pokemon to rest and relax. I'm Nurse Joy." Nurse Joy held her hand out.
"Oh...uhm..nice to meet you, ma'am." Nick hesitated, than shook it. No point in being rude.
"I'm going to rest for a bit, and Chancey isn't much for conversation," she smiled, "but I'm sure the young lady would be happy to help you, in the morning. Why don't you get some rest? Chancey will alert you if there are any problems. Good night!" With that, Nurse Joy headed into the back.
Nick thought once more how much he had to learn about the world of pokemon. He hope that Nurse Joy was right, and that the girl would be able to help him. He wasn't sure why, but she seemed like someone he could trust. Besides, he recalled hearing about beggars and choosers. Maybe she could explain those wierd ball things to him too. Shrugging, Nick entered his room again. The girl was fast asleep. Nick slid back under the covers of his own bed, and sleep quickly took him, where he peacefully remained for the rest of the night.

It was shortly after dawn when Rainbow's eyes fluttered open. She yawned and stretched out before rolling over in an attempt to fall back asleep. After five minutes, however, the Trainer opened her eyes again and rested them on the form in the bed across from her. The blanket rose and fell several centimeters, leading her to believe that all had been well during the night and he was still sleeping soundly.
Quitely as she could, Rainbow got out of bed and took her bag with her to the bathroom. She got cleaned and changed into a pale outfit, something she normally did so that the main focal point in her appearance was the rainbow-colored hair. Once she was ready, the Trainer walked out to the lobby where the only residents were Nurse Joy's Chansey (which still tasted of cotton candy) and the boy her age who smelled of lollipops.
Technically she could leave right now on her way to Eterna, yet she would feel bad for leaving March without finding out how he or the Larvitar would be. Hopefully he won't be asleep all day too, she thought to herself as she sat down on the couch opposite of Fruity Lollipops.
For now, she enjoyed gazing at the golden and blue sky through the window. Nurse Joy would probably be back within the hour. She'd just ask about the Larvitar then.

"Your a good for nothing punk that will never have any worth!!!" Alistar's father shouted. Alistar stood in this strange place... it felt like his old room. His father grabbed him by the collar. Alistar couldn't breathe. It was all fading into a pitch black haze. "Your mother can't save you now!" His father roared. His open hand curled into a fist... he rose and....
"Agh!" Alistar cried. He awoke on the couch in Pokemon Center. Wurm was still sleeping on his side. Alistar's blanket had fallen off. "I must of been tossing and turning all night long..." Alistar muttered. Covered in sweat, he wiped his forehead clean. "It was all a dream...." Alistar thought. He turned to the window. It was early morning. Alistar never got up this early. He finally noticed the rainbow haired girl sitting across from him. She seemed to be in deep thought. He remembered back to yesterday. He thought of the injured Larvitar and how concerned she and the kid from before looked. He turned to Wurm, and he looked back to how he found Wurm, in those similar circumstances.
A small forest, trees longer than life itself. The group of Taillows flying away as Alistar approached. The weak and hurt Wurmple laying on the ground....
He looked at the girl again. "You know...." He began, "I'm here because I followed you guys here." He paused. "That may have sounded werid. I followed you hear because I figured I get a place to crash and some food to eat." He paused again. He figured she thought he was freak for telling her that. "So I figured I apologize for following you and your buddy here."
He rose his hand out, so she might shake it. Or break it in two, he figured girls with strange hair had some sort of super powers.
"My names Alistar, and it was a pleasure to follow you."

Nick opened his eyes the next morning. Sunlight streamed in through the window next to his bed. and several birds flew past. He thought they were called starly or pdgey or something, but couldn't be sure. Maybe they were lugias, for all he knew. He remembered his parents mentioning those once or twice.
Shaking his head, he looked around the room. It looked as though the girl Rainbow had left. For some reason, the thought that the only friendly face who could help him had left him made him feel sad. He had hoped to ask her some questions. She seemed pretty knowledgable; then again, everyone was probably more knowledgeable than Nick was. Still...
He got changed (his small bag had been left at the foot of his bed), and left the room. He wandered out into the lobby, where Rainbow and the kid who had slept on a couch (for whatever reason) were talking to each other. Though they were both younger than him, they probably knew more about raising pokemon than he did. The chansey wandered up to him wih a bowl of oatmeal. It smelled like cinnamon and apples"Oh, thank you," he said, mildly surprised. Chansey then walked over to the other two guests and offered them breakfast as well. Nick followed it over to them.
Nick stuttered, unsure how to begin. "U-uhm...e-excuse me? Are the two of you, by any chance...uhm...pokemon trainers? Is that it? Trainers?" He flinched, sure they would think he was some kind of idiot. "You see, I've become rather interested in that sort of thing myself, recently, and I was wondering...well...I was wondering if you two could help me!?" He blurted this last bit out, shocked by his own daring.
